Springfields ESG Strategy
Springfields Designer Outlet & Leisure is committed to developing a responsible, sustainable and community-focused destination that delivers long-term value for visitors, retailers, employees and the local community.
Our ESG priorities will focus on reducing environmental impact, protecting and enhancing our natural environment, supporting our local community and embedding responsible business practices across our centre and and our operations.
Environment: We aim to reduce energy consumption, minimise waste, improve resource efficiency and protect biodiversity, building on the unique natural environment of Springfields Gardens.
Social: We aim to support local employment, promote inclusion and accessibility, engage with community organisations and create positive experiences that support health, wellbeing and family leisure.
Governance: We embed accountability, ethical business practices and transparent performance monitoring into our operations, working collaboratively with retailers, suppliers and other partners to progress our ESG ambitions.
Through measurable objectives and continuous improvement, Springfields aims to balance commercial growth with environmental responsibility and provide a positive contribution to the communities it serves.
Jangro: A step towards a greener tomorrow
We've partnered with Jangro, using their ntrl cleaning products and sustainable paper products. They've partnered with TreeApp to contribute 10p of every case sold towards planting trees in UK forests.
Paper with Purpose Range: With paper crafted from kraft cardboard, they give new life to materials that would otherwise go to landfill. These products are free from harmful chemicals and come in eco-friendly, plastic-free packaging.
ntrl Toilet Roll: Raw and untreated cardboard is pulled from waste destined for landfill and diverted into the recycling stream. The paper goes through a system where it is gradually cleaned and made into hand towels, and loo roll. Every step of the production is optimised to reduce emissions and the carbon footprint of the processing.
ntrl Cleaning Range: All our cleaning products are ntrl, which save up to 85% on CO2 emissions on each product. It is made using sustainable production practices, with recycled materials, using natural probiotic cultures or enzyme and made in the UK.
The Springfields Team: All playing a part
We work in partnership with the SHS, and with 25-acres of beautiful gardens, we take pride in ensuring we not only look after the gardens and wildlife, but ensure that the gardens are maintained sustainably for generations to come.
Trees and Bulbs: We are proud to have over 650 trees across Springfields and across a large number of varieties, many of which have been here for decades.
Bulb Planting: Over 250,000 bulbs are planted each year, from local suppliers, adding the incredible beauty and variety in the gardens and spanning all seasons.
Green Energy: With 200,000 square foot of retail space we are proud to say that all our energy comes from green sources.
RSPB: We're in partnership with the RSPB helping protect the bird wildlife onsite and give visitors the chance to observe from our bird hide.
BREEAM in Use: We've achieve an excellent rating for BREEAM, achieving a high standard of independently assessed environmental and sustainability performance.
