About the Role

Are you a passionate, organized, and drive-driven Head Chef looking for a fresh challenge?

The Parlour at Springfields Garden Centre is seeking an exceptional Head Chef to take ownership of our busy kitchen operation. Known for serving quality, freshly prepared meals, afternoon teas, and delicious seasonal specials, we take pride in offering high-standard hospitality to our loyal visitors.

As Head Chef, you will be the driving force behind the kitchen—leading from the front, upholding strict food standards, managing menu delivery, and maintaining top-tier hygiene and safety compliance.

Key Responsibilities

•                  Operational Excellence: Oversee the day-to-day running of the kitchen, ensuring food quality, speed of service, and presentation remain exceptional even during peak trading periods.

•                  Team Leadership: Lead, train, and inspire the kitchen team, fostering a positive, hardworking, and safe working environment.

•                  Menu Execution & Specials: Deliver core menu offerings efficiently while crafting creative, high-margin seasonal specials that keep customers returning.

•                  Financial Performance: Manage kitchen stock control, minimize food waste, optimize GP margins, and assist with labor scheduling to keep operational costs aligned with targets.

•                  Hygiene & Safety: Take full ownership of food safety regulations, COSHH, HACCP, allergen management, and maintain our 5-Star Food Hygiene standards at all times.

What We Are Looking For

•       Proven experience as a Head Chef or strong Sous Chef in a high-volume, fast-paced restaurant or fresh-food environment.

• Strong leadership qualities with a hands-on management style and excellent communication skills.

• Up-to-date Food Hygiene (Level 2 or higher) and comprehensive knowledge of allergen procedures.

• Solid understanding of stock control, kitchen P&L, GP management, and wastage tracking.

• A true passion for quality food, consistency, and team development.

Purpose of the role:

To assist the manager in driving consistent improvement to the stores sales, KPI’s and all other areas of measured success. To help recruit, retain, motivate and develop the team to drive the success of the store. To maintain exceptional visual merchandising standards throughout the store and create a shopping experience that delights our customers every time. 

 Responsibilities:

  • Achieve sales targets by demonstrating passion for the product and the brand
  • Provide accurate information about our product to the customer, including features and benefits and stock availability
  • Promote our multi-channel shopping options to ensure maximum customer satisfaction
  • Provide an inviting and welcoming atmosphere for our customers
  • Process sales transactions with care and in line with company guidelines
  • Demonstrate flexibility in order to meet the needs of the store

Key Skills and Experience:
